Industry representatives working with Penn State to serve Pennsylvania
agriculture and agribusiness.
Agriculture and all its related components -- forestry and natural
resources, food manufacturing and distribution, environmental horticulture,
rural economic development -- are big business in Pennsylvania. The
College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State, the land-grant university,
has served the interests of agriculture and agribusiness for over 140
years. The Penn State Agricultural Council is the primary forum for
interaction between the College and its industry clientele.
Council Mission
To enhance the effectiveness of the College of Agricultural Sciences
in planning and implementing its research, teaching, and cooperative
extension responsibilities.
History and Purpose
The Agricultural Advisory Council was formed in 1961 to represent the
interests of rural, agricultural, agribusiness, and related organizations
in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Its purpose continues to be serving
in an advisory capacity to the College of Agricultural Sciences and as an
advocate for the College with external constituents. In May 1995, the
organization formally changed its name from the Agricultural Advisory
Council to the Penn State Agricultural Council.
